Inside 48 Hours

I woke up this morning feeling an overwhelming amount of anxiety today. The reality that my surgery is (now less than!) 48 hours away hit hard.

Yesterday, I did the final run-around to grab things I’d need. For example, believe it or not, I didn’t own a single pair of baggy sweats. I picked up a new pair as well as a zip-up hoodie, some cotton underwear a size bigger than usual (so there’s no rubbing), and extra dressings supplies so I don’t need to worry about it while I recover.

I got my arrival time for Monday morning last week. I’ll be heading in at 11:15am, which I will confess I was disappointed about. I was really hoping to be done earlier in the day. Monday morning will be hideous as I wait around with anxiety, though perhaps I’ll be grateful for it when the time comes? I’m focusing on the fact I’ll be able to spend the morning with the kiddos.

My goal for the final 24 hours pre-surgery is to make sure I’m well-hydrated, well-rested, and really well-fed before I begin fasting at midnight tomorrow. I booked myself into Nature Folk for a Thermal Circuit appointment to help me relax and also because it will be six weeks or so before I can do it again!

More and more, I’m feeling a sense of “holy shit, am I really doing this?” It still feels a bit surreal. And, it still feels really scary.

Tomorrow, I’ll share the items I’m packing in my overnight bag and also show the things I’ve purchased so far on Instagram.
