Before & After Lymphatic Drainage Massage Treatment

If you’re not familiar with lymphatic drainage massage, this is a gentle massage treatment that encourages waste in your body towards your lymph nodes to be flushed out naturally. It does this by stimulating the lymphatic system, and thus enhances the body’s natural detoxification process. It’s a great way to flush out swelling and other fluid build-up, and it was one of the first things I booked for post-op care when I had my surgery date nailed down.

I’ve been seeing Sarah Brownlow During at Cove Sport Therapy in Dartmouth since the spring. I originally booked in for lymphatic drainage massage because I was feeling like my body needed some help postpartum with fluid build up, slow digestion, and poor energy. It helped immensely. I reached out to her about my abdominoplasty and immediately booked multiple sessions with her post-op to promote healing.

Before I went in for surgery, I was completely hunched over and had a lot of swelling in my back and tummy.

When I came home, I was standing up straight and the fluid had been largely reduced throughout my torso! I had a massive pee (TMI? Too bad!) which means the fluid had been flushed out of my system naturally, the real reason behind going in for the treatment in the first place.

After treatment, I was standing up right with absolutely no stretchy feeling or pain. I snapped these photos and immediately climbed into bed so my body could soak up the positive benefits of the treatment but talk about a difference! Standing up straight before the massage wasn’t even an option; I physically couldn’t straighten up more than I was!

Verdict? 10/10 worthwhile post-op!

I had a sneaking suspicion I’d be glad I’d gone for treatment but I couldn’t have imagined these results. Needless to say, I won’t be skipping any sessions and I would heartily recommend it to anyone else in their recovery journey!
