What Happened at The Consult

When I decided to reach out to The Landings to inquire about the abdominoplasty, I filled out an information form and waited. I got a call remarkably fast! I was booked in for a consult within just a couple of weeks.

I arrived at the consult really unsure about what to expect. What I was sure of, however, was the results I wanted:

  • Smoother tummy appearance
  • No more loose skin flapping around

When my appointment time arrived, Dr. Bendor-Samuel welcomed me into his office and we had a long conversation about my goals, my health history, and what had brought me to that moment.

A key focus of our conversation focused on my health history and lifestyle. For obvious reasons, being in good health is an important first step for considering surgery. And, given the type of surgery I was considering (abdominoplasty), it was imperative that I was at a stable weight.

After our initial discussion in his office, we went into a separate room where I changed into a robe so he could assess my tummy and get a better sense of what I would be eligible for.

I went in very worried that I’d be told to get all kinds of things done but Dr. Bendor-Samuel didn’t try to sell me anything. Instead, he explained what I could expect from skin removal alone vs. a tummy tuck and helped me see the diastasis recti (DR), how the repair would look, and what the procedure would be like. It was important to me that I understand what recovery looks like as a mom of two tiny humans!

After a physical examination, we returned to his office where I was able to continue drilling him with questions. He recommended some prep work to do before surgery (namely, increasing my resistance training and maintaining my current weight). He then updated my file with everything we discussed and I went back to the waiting room to await the surgical coordinator, Krista.

Krista walked me through the price and payment structure and helped me find the best date for my procedure. I dropped a 25% deposit that day to secure my appointment, which I later had to reschedule due to a travel conflict. It was all incredibly seamless and positive.

It might have seemed like a rushed decision from the outside looking in but, when I was still pregnant with F **15 years ago** I had actually asked my doctor about a tummy tuck after pregnancy, so suffice it to say… it was not a rushed choice.
